 Finding Balance

~ A Touchy Thing ~

     Massage therapy can restore spiritual balance.  It may seem counter-intuitive that spending time focused on our bodies is spiritually restorative;  but our bodies are so much more than simple "matter" (from the Latin for 'mother').  This physical material has been loaned to us by Earth, our mother, and Great Intelligence has shaped it into beautiful living forms - animated by needs and loves and hates.

     The only thing "physical" about our physical boides is the mineral content, stone;  in-forming them with earth substance.  The complex living force that shapes, reproduces, heals, and seeks survival we share with the far-flung world of plants.  Our great soulfullness, akin to raging rivers, gentle mists, and surging tides, we have in common with the animals, whose tremendous instincts and emotions (from the Latin for 'movements outward') send them over the earth, pursuing what they love and fleeing what they fear.  Fascinated by our own abilities to think, plan, ponder and create, we humans spend so much time weaving webs in our heads that we get detached from our bodies and our life of feeling.  Spiritual balance begins by recognizing and owning our feelings and reinhabiting our bodies.  

     While finding balance in the inorganic realm is as simple as stacking stones, balance for human beings is a shifting dynamic, like first learning to stand, walk, or dance.  Our balance shifts as life moves us through the Dance.  In this shifting life adventure, we can choose to find our own dance steps.  But then we don't dance alone.  We are in it together.  Exploration can take us in many directions;  fitness work - (play, exercise, diet, and rest), creativity - (music making, gardening, writing, arts & crafts), spiritual practice - (worship, ceremony, meditation, yoga, tai chi), also - and this is where I come in - body work! - (integrated therapeutic massage, reflexology, hot stone therapy, acupressure, aromatherapy).  Massage , tuned to your unique needs, can help you in this adventure of a changing life in a changing world.
